So since everyone already knows OverLocked EXP cannot be transferred over to Combo-Lock, might as well fork this new system out. You guys already heard that we're having an New Improved EXP system for OverLocked which all members should be able to calculate by themselves using our handy calculator! And yes that means we will be no longer be following Combo-Lock's EXP system anymore!

Explanations of how this new OL EXP system works is explained below with examples! This system is also adjusted with our NPC system.

Verona's Talk about EXP by OverLockedVault

Leveling with EXP

Let's first talk about leveling quickly. Every member starts out with 0 EXP. By participating in group activities, you can gain EXP which can help you level. Here we have 16 levels, each under it's own rank tier. Under each tier, there is a certain amount of EXP needed to level-up.
Bronze (Levels 1-4): Needs 800 EXP to advance.
Silver (Levels 5-8): Needs 1000 EXP to advance.
Gold (Levels 9-12): Needs 1200 EXP to advance.
Platinum Star (Levels 13-16): Needs 1500 EXP to advance.
Note: If you're leveling from Bronze to Silver (Level 4 to 5), you'd use 800 EXP; from Silver to Gold (Level 8 to 9), 1000 EXP; and lastly from Gold to Platinum (Level 12 to 13), 1200 EXP. You can check the OL EXP section in the Registry  for the full run down, if you're confused still.

Essentially, the more you draw, the faster you will level up. Participation is essential to the strengthening of your character, as leveling up will help you receive extra stats for your character that could help you in combat.

Experience Points

EXP, or Experience Points,  determines how much battle experience your character has and how much more experience your character will need in order to reach the next level. By receiving a lot of EXP, your character can develop further by leveling and earning SP and the right to use more powerful spells and fight more powerful monsters.

Your character can earn EXP by participating in quests, missions, events, and other group activities. You can also earn EXP by giving submissions to the group.

General Art Submission

Sketch                   +20 EXP
Lineart                   +50 EXP
Flat Color               +80 EXP
Shaded                  +100 EXP
Background (BG)   +50 EXP
Detail                   +50-200 EXP
Each Monster         +40 EXP
Each Character      +50 EXP
How this system basically works is calculating per monster and per character found in the artwork. Sketch/Lineart/Flat Color/Shaded/BG/Detail are categories added at the end, and should not be counted in multiples, for effort as long as they are present in the artwork. (Or for simpler terms, Sketch/Lineart/Flat Color/Shade/BG are only counted once for each artwork submitted) This system above does not apply to sketch dumps submitted in the sketch folder.

The detail category found in the system is EXP for anything drawn in the artwork that doesn't fall under any of the other categories, like weapons, props, decorations, etc. Also it is up to the mod to award more EXP based on overall detail in the artwork.

Others

Animated Gifs
  • Grade it normally if its a small motion.(Eye's blinking, etc).
  • Different motions-like a character moving or changing pose +25-50 for each new pose/drawing
Flash        +100 EXP on top of General Art Grading
Comics     Graded per panel
Memes     Graded like above
Regular Batches/Dumps     Grade like above as if one art piece. (Must be submitted to Finished Art Folder or Event Folder)
Sketch Dump         20 EXP each OC/Monster (Regardless if colored or not. Any art dump submitted to sketch folder)
Event Bonus         +20 EXP for Event Submissions that are submitted during an Official OverLocked Event

Examples

SKETCH ART DUMP (20 EXP PER OC, FOUND IN OTHERS SECTION)
Under CL EXP system would get 830 EXP, under OL it’d be 1600 EXP (80 OCs sketches)
Under CL system, this art would only get about max 200 EXP (most likely 150 as most mods EXP have a tendency to give less), under OL system it’d be 300 EXP (lineart+shaded+detail+2 oc)
Under CL system, this would only get 150 EXP, but under OL (lineart+flat+shaded+detail+1OC) it’d get at least 330 EXP

Under CL would be about 120 EXP, under OL it’d be about 180 EXP [Lined+Flat+1OC]

Under CL would be about 2400 EXP, under OL it’d be about 4190 EXP [19 panels(lined+shaded)+6BG+20OCs] Reusing the same drawings (with minor changes, like eyes or no changes at all) will NOT be counted more than once.

Under CL would be about 2450 EXP, under OL it’d be about
5580 EXP [16 panels(lined+flat+shaded)+8BG+30OCs]

Using this system, it is possible to have a shaded piece but it is not colored, ie Monochrome Artworks. Also you may have lined art that just has flat colors and no shading. This system is supposed to get rid of the ambiguity found in CL's old EXP system between Simple vs Complex Finished pieces, but also boost up member's EXP for coloring memes.

EXP within Contracts (Contract EXP)

(Arcesso Contract or Contract with MonstersTamer x Familiar Boost     +50 EXP
(Suscipio/Partimur Contract or Contract with Dwellers) Contract Partner's EXP     25% of Contract Partner’s EXP
You are able to get EXP boosts from contracting with monsters or with other dwellers.
  • For tamers, they will automatically get a +50 EXP boost for any gallery submission (Except for collabs which can vary percentage wise).
  • For those in a suscipio or partimur contract, the dweller does not get an EXP boost for themselves; instead their partner would get 25% EXP from their submission, meaning that these partners would indirectly level each other up.
However this contract boost only applies to gallery submissions, ie. if you post count during a casual RP event, you or your partner would not get this contract boost.

Multiple Contracts

If you have multiple suscipio/partimur contracts with your levelable OC's, all your contract partners would receive the same 25% EXP from your submission. This 25% EXP will not be split between your partners; all partners would get same 25% EXP.
  • ie. If you got 100 exp on a submission, each of three suscipio/partimur contract partners gets 25 EXP.
This contract EXP would only go to your partner's currently leveling OC, even if that OC is not currently contracted with your OC.
Unless your contract partner is an NPC, then contract EXP is void. You will not receive Contract EXP for partnering with an NPC, and your partner will not receive Contract EXP for contracting their NPC.

Contracting with your own characters also means you're not eligible for Contract EXP (Levelable OCs or NPC).

Contract EXP Conflict

If you have multiple types of contracts (aka you have one levelable monster tamer and one levelable dweller in a partimur/suscipio contract for example) it will automatically default to Contract with Dweller EXP Boost. And you will not be able to obtain monster taming boost from submissions.

Person x Person Collabs

For collabs we will be following a formula Base EXP + (percentage)*[(Base EXP)*(# of performed jobs)/(# of total jobs)] or based on this EXP Calculator Spreadsheet to calculate a member’s EXP in taking part in the collab.
Collabs with Contracts= +50% EXP
Collabs without Contracts= +25% EXP
How this works is basically if one of your levelable characters is in a contract and you take part in a collab you would fall under the Collabs with Contracts category, regardless if your contract partner is taking part in the collab.

If you are not in a contract, you will automatically fall under the Collab without Contracts category. This would also apply to members who only have their NPC's contracted or only having Levelable OC's who only contracted with NPCs, or those who only contracted with their own characters also fall under this category.

Example

Let's use a 380 Base EXP worth art collab (lineart+flat+shaded+bg+2OCs), this collab is split equally between two individuals - Rum(color) & Ani (Lines) - meaning there are 2 jobs, each did 1/2 of the work for this collab.
  • Both are in partimur/suscipio contract, they both would get an exp of 475 EXP under the Collabs with Contracts category (50%), and their contract partners would get 118.75 or specifically 119 EXP
  • But if one of them was a monster tamer, for example, the monster tamer just gets the 475 EXP instead of 380.
    • And DO NOT mark the Tamer Contract Boost found under the General Art Submission area, this will screw up other people's collab EXP and may give more EXP than intended.
  • If one of them was a non-contracted individual, then that non-contracted individual follow the 25% category and would only get 427.5 or specifically 428 EXP
Let's use another 330 Base EXP worth art collab (lineart+flat+shaded+bg+1OC), this collab is split equally between four individuals however - Dante (Sketch) & Chiky (Lines) & Rie (Color) & Ani (BG) - meaning there are 4 jobs, each did 1/4 of the work for this collab. Let's figure out how much each member would receive in this collab.
  • Ani, Chiky, and Rie are in partimur contract, those three participants would get an exp of 371.25 or specifically 372 EXP under the Collabs with Contracts category (50%), and their contract partners would get 92.8125 or specifically 93 EXP
  • Dante however is not in a contract and therefore would follow the 25% category and would only receive 350.625 or specifically 351 EXP

Special Notes

ID Number

Remember to add your ID number in your artist's description. This is in case you have changed your account username or are using a side account to submit anything to the group.

EXP

It is highly suggested to tally your own EXP on your submission. However if you did not put up your own EXP in the artist's description, be wary mods may inaccurately tally your EXP. And if any complaint concerning EXP occurs under this situation, this falls largely on member, and up to mod's judgement whether we may or may not fix what was recorded on the Registry.

Secondly, OL EXP is not transferrable to CL. And we will not keep track of EXP you have gained in CL's reopening/revamp once you transfer over your character to OverLocked

Decimals

If there any decimals when calculating submissions, including Contract EXP, please round up to the nearest whole number.

Old Artwork

We do not give EXP or Contract EXP for old art already accounted for! This applies to combo-lock submitted artwork.

Character and Monster Apps

If you submit a new character or monster app with new art, you will obtain EXP under the General Art Submission criteria. You would not get Lit EXP for the written part.

Revamped App Art

We do understand members may update/revamp their character's app, but OL mods do not check for these and will not give you EXP for updating your app art, and members are suggested to submit the new character artwork to OverLocked's gallery, so we can give you your EXP.

Old Combo-Lock Submissions

You are certainly allowed to submit old CL artwork to OverLocked. However all combo-lock submitted artwork must be submitted to the archive folder, and will not get any EXP as it would be considered double-counting.

Side Account Submissions

If you are current OL member and have a side account you'd like to submit artwork or literature with, you are allowed to send a join request to the group and request to have that side account added as an OL member, please put your ID number in the join request, so we're sure it's you.
Though if you'd not like that account to be a member of OverLocked, please submit (suggest) the submission to the group remember to put your ID number in the artist's description of the artwork.

Outside Group Appearances

Any character that is not a character found in OverLocked, or Combo-Lock, will not get any EXP for their appearance. Only OverLocked characters will get EXP! This is also applicable to anything that does not pertain the group, and we will not EXP anything that doesn't relate to our group!

Multiple Contract Partners

If you have multiple suscipio/partimur contracts with your levelable OC's, all your contract partners would receive the same 25% EXP from your submission. This 25% EXP will not be split between your partners; all partners would get 25% EXP. ie. If you got 100 exp, each of three suspicio/partimur contract partners gets 25 EXP. This contract EXP would only go to their currently leveling OC.
Unless your contract partner is an NPC, then contract EXP is void. You will not receive Contract EXP for partnering with an NPC, and your partner will not receive EXP for contracting their NPC.

Contracting yourself, or your own characters (Levelable OCs or NPCs), also does not give you Contract EXP.

Contract EXP Conflict

If you have multiple types of contracts (ie. You have one levelable monster tamer and one levelable dweller in a partimur/suscipio contract) it will automatically default to Contract with Dweller EXP Boost. And you will not be able to obtain a monster taming boost from submissions.

Collabs for Monster Tamers

You will not get a +50 EXP boost, and this will not be given in the Tamer Contract Boost section under General Art Submission in the calculator. But you will be eligible under the 50% Category of Collabs with Contracts.

No Contract EXP for Official RP Events

We allow members to get EXP and/or SP and/or Items for RP during official chat events. However this amount does not allow absent members to get EXP. Meaning if your character obtains SP, items, or EXP, your partner is not eligible for taking a piece of it. OL would like to reward RP participation during official chat periods, not reward those who were absent or never took part in the chatroom. Technically only gallery submissions would be eligible for Contract EXP.

Should my art be submitted to the Sketch/Finished Color/Finished Monochrome Folder?

That really depends on what category you categorize it under. (Up to the member to decide.) Mods will only give art depending where the member submits it, so if art was submitted to Finished Color/Finished Monochrome/Event Folder you would get EXP under the General Art EXP guidelines. If you submit it to the Sketch folder, it will be given only 20 EXP per OC under the assumption it's a sketch and not lineart.
